Allie Rieken, tLMHC, tCDADC is a certified alcohol and drug counselor. She works with families and individuals of any age.
Allie has had many personal experiences with mental health, including anxiety. Because of this, she can relate to others and understands their symptoms and feelings. Allie practices mindfulness and compassionate therapy, as well as showing people how to return to the moment with grounding techniques. She has read about and used many of the techniques she teaches. When using the techniques, she focuses on a person’s needs in the moment. This is important because different things work for different people.
In addition to having anxiety, Allie has grown up around kids. For example, she has babysat children who experience ADHD. As a result, Allie understands how parents feel and how it can be difficult for them to manage. She also worked at a prison, which helps her understand how mental health is important for anyone and everyone in all circumstances.
Allie loves seeing individuals gain confidence and use their acquired skills outside of session. Seeing this progression is a motivating factor for her, and she makes sure to create a safe space for this progress to continue. Allie knows that mental health is very important. She also knows that not everyone has had the same experiences as her. For this reason, she enjoys shining a light on the importance of taking of our mental health.
Empathy and Compassion
Allie is a very empathetic and understanding person. Similarly, building and strengthening relationships with others comes natural for her. Maintaining a nonjudgmental presence is also important to her. She wants individuals to feel like they can open up. As a result, she can help them get through whatever it is that they are going through. She also enjoys helping others figure out who they are. This can be challenging for people to figure out, but worth it.
