As your mental health provider, Andrew Foster’s top priority is to help you to live your life to the fullest. Before suggesting a mental health medication, he first wants to understand your story and hear your needs. Then, Andrew will work together with you to find a solution.
“Don’t hide yourself in regret, just love yourself, and you’re set”
To quote Lady Gaga, just because you were “born this way” or perhaps, experienced a trauma along the way, you do not need to hide yourself. Mental health impacts each and every person at some point in our lives. Whether it’s Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson battling periods of depression or Lady Gaga healing from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) — experiencing mental health issues is normal.
As someone who has personally experienced episodes of mental distress, Andrew realizes it can be debilitating and interfere with reaching our life goals and dreams if left untreated. Fortunately, mental illness can be effectively managed with a variety of interventions.
Andrew is passionate about helping others overcome feelings of mental distress, maximize their quality of life, and attain their goals and dreams. His most fulfilling moments are when he can be of service to someone experiencing mental barriers to their life’s journey.
There is no “One-Size-Fits-All” Solution for Mental Health Medication
Every person is unique. Each intervention (including medication) is personalized based on your unique characteristics and needs. In addition to medication management, Andrew will consider a spectrum of holistic care options to create the best plan for you. To do this, he uses cutting edge evidence-based clinical research to guide recommendations.
Prior to joining CFS, Andrew spent time working with those receiving care for severe mental health issues in an inpatient psychiatric department. Although these individuals were often deep within their mental health struggles, he fondly remembers many patients who re-gained the sense of passion and zest for life during their hospitalizations. Moments are just that — moments. A time of mental health distress does not and should not define your life.
First and foremost, Andrew will value and respect you as a human being. You are not your diagnosis. He strives to provide care with empathy and compassion.
Go Hawks…and Cyclones!
Outside of the office, Andrew enjoys spending time with family and friends, lifting weights, watching sports, traveling, and reading. He and his mirror-image identical twin brother were both raised as Hawkeye fans! But, as an Iowa State grad, he also cheers for the Cyclones.
So, whether you are a Hawk fan, Cyclone fan, or even if you proudly wear the purple and gold (Go UNI!), Andrew would be honored to help you work towards your mental health goals. Please reach out to request an appointment with Andrew.
