Blair Birkett, LMHC is a therapist and site coordinator at our Dubuque, IA clinic! She has experience working in therapy in school environments, nature settings, and with animal-assisted components. Her previous roles have given her insight into working with individuals of all ages, and family units.
Giving Others a Voice
Blair is passionate about the mental health field for many reasons, but especially to help give others a voice. Many people don’t feel or believe that they have a voice, or that people would even listen to what they have to say. In her role, she seeks to give them this voice by helping them identify it and gain the confidence to use it.
Trust, Humor, and Success
A large part of this process involves building trust between therapist and patient. This comes naturally for Blair, as she is an empathetic and down to earth person. Humor can be a giant crutch and coping tool for many people, and she is not afraid to use it in her work. The ability to utilize humor can also help people as they find and strengthen their voice.
Another large part of her work involves helping others to meet their goals, recognize and OWN their worth, and become resilient through life’s challenges.
Outside of work, Blair enjoys immersing herself in nature by hiking and collecting rocks. She is also an avid runner, and has completed multiple marathons already. Spending time with her two dogs, Albert and Louise, and her cat, Kitty, is also something she enjoys.
