Deb Bailey is living proof that we can always reimagine our lives with inspiration, tools, and practice. She spent nearly two decades working in the arts as the director of the Marion Arts Festival. In this role she witnessed an enduring connection between creativity and mental health. Deb is grateful to return to her roots in supporting the mental wellbeing of those in her care.
Experience in Life
In addition to her work in the arts, Deb has more than 20 years of experience in supporting those impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault. She has background in mediation and especially enjoys working with couples toward reconnecting with harmony.
Deb’s experience also includes supporting individuals through depression, anxiety, and loss as well as overcoming emotional, physical, and sexual trauma. She has also previously served as a board member with the Iowa Abortion Access Fund, Iowa Cultural Corridor Alliance, Rape Victim Advocacy Program, and Iowa Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
We all have more going for us than we might think, and everyone has the real-life experiences necessary to face their challenges. What we tell ourselves about ourselves – and others – impacts our emotions and responses. Exploring our stories is a radical act of bravery and self-compassion.
Excessive Exclamation Points are Welcome!
You will find Deb to be warm, kind, conversational, and (by her own definition) possibly a little too “intense.” The reality is she is invested in you as a human being and can’t wait to support you in unleashing you potential!!!
You’re not a problem to be solved. Deb wants to listen to your whole story and collaborate on recognizing and amplifying your unique abilities. Your successes outnumber all else. She hopes to work alongside you in finding the most consistent and lasting ways to enjoy your relationships and live the life you want.
It’s a Privilege to Witness Your Growth
Deb considers witnessing your spirit and resilience in real-time is an extraordinary privilege. With support, you can do amazing things toward living more freely, hopefully, and happily!
Outside of the working day, Deb and her husband and are converting part of their lawn to a micro-prairie, which is in a perpetually awkward phase. She also spends a disproportionate amount of her free time encouraging her cat to make good choices. Deb’s also not ashamed to announce her love for “Dancing With the Stars” (the heart wants what it wants).
If you have a love for exclamation points, desire to unleash your potential, and grow in your relationships — Deb would love to support you. Please reach out to request an appointment with Deb at our Cedar Rapids Clinic.
