Get to know Debra

Debra Prier is our Vice President of Clinical Services. In her role, she oversees all of our clinical locations and programs, including our BHIS and School-Based programs.

Mental Health Background

Debra has about 30 years of experience working in substance use and mental health programs. As a result of her expertise, she has presented at several national and state conferences on the topic of Addictions. She began as a therapist, working with individuals struggling with substance use disorders for 15 years before becoming the executive director. In that role, she ensured that the clinic was abiding by best practices and keeping treatment solutions up to date. She is able to build on these skills as she holds Covenant Family Solutions to a high-quality standard. She has also worked as a clinician and supervisor in an outpatient gambling treatment program. In this role, she helped develop TreatmentFirst, an online counseling tool.

She has also witnessed the consequences of substance use within her own network, and understands the toll it can take on the entire family. With the help of therapy, she has seen her own family strengthen bonds and grow together, overcoming challenges in the process. For this reason, and many others, she loves the work she does.

A Strong Leader

Debra is known to be a very compassionate leader. Despite traveling between locations throughout the week, she still takes notice of employees who are struggling, and makes it a point to sit down with them and find a solution together. She is proud to help lead such a supportive team every single day.

Outside of work, you can find her spending time with her family and supporting her kids with their various adventures and activities.

Get direction for your life!

Most of our poor decisions and behaviors that we wish we could re-do are driven by our feelings. In most cases we are probably reacting from an emotion and not even really thinking!

ODD is one of the most common behavioral disorders among kids. Unfortunately, people exhibiting these behaviors are sometimes mislabeled as "naughty" or "bad," which can be damaging.

Regulate your emotions and then engage in co-regulation with your teen from a place of curiosity and compassion.
