Diagnosed with autism as an adult as well as being gender-queer, Lexys Sillin has a first-hand understanding of the struggles and strengths neurodivergent people experience when seeking therapy. For them, having an affirming therapist was one of the most valuable parts of receiving mental healthcare. Lexys is devoted to providing that same gift to those in their care.
Who do you want to be?
Do you feel like you are stuck in between who you are and who you want to become? You are not alone — life can feel like this a lot. That said, Lexys believes we are often most beautiful at our transition points, even if they are wildly uncomfortable. People are change-resistant creatures, it’s part of our biology. Lexys is drawn to helping others find acceptance in troublesome transitions in life.
You have what you need already inside you.
Lexys believes that each person already has the resources within themselves to achieve their mental health goals. They approach each person in their care with unconditional positive regard and do not believe that anyone is beyond redemption, recovery, or growth. (Even if they are on “Team Dog” while she is firmly on “Team Cat” — as the proud parent of three feline friends.)
As a painter and poet, Lexys will gently nudge you towards uncovering your strengths. Whether it is the use of art to visualize feelings and emotions, words set to poetry, or something else entirely your path to mental wellness is unique and special just like you.
An honor and privilege
Undoubtedly, witnessing people come into their own and connect to their confidence is one of the most awe-inspiring phenomenon. Lexys will never take for granted the opportunity to be a part of someone else’s story and help them navigate their path to unleashing their potential. Are you ready to pick up the brush and paint your path to healing and growth? If so, please reach out to schedule an appointment with Lexys in our Coralville Clinic.
