Get to Know Miranda

Selecting a mental health provider is a very personal decision. Learn a bit more about Miranda and what to expect when you or a loved one receive care with us at Covenant Family Solutions. Our mission is to unleash your potential.

Each of us has a story — even therapists. Miranda Peyton’s own life experiences inspired her to help others who are affected by similar struggles. Along her journey, she has found that self-growth is one of her biggest passions and enjoys supporting others on their own path to unleashing their potential.

Passion for self-growth

Miranda cares for all those who walk through her door. She truly wants to help each person meet their goals and see progress. As your therapist, she will meet you wherever you are at in your journey.

The first priority for Miranda is to identify what you need in the present moment. From there, she will listen, empathize, and help guide you through change. As you or your child’s therapist, she will challenge negative thinking patterns and highlight strengths.

Helping find techniques that work for you is key. Miranda will help identify new skills that can be applied outside of session. Application of these skills in real life is where true growth happens.

Love and acceptance

Sometimes, circumstances in our lives are outside of control. For example, in her own life, she experienced parental separation. She has seen the benefits of accepting those things she could not control with love in her heart.

The reality is you can only change your reactions and responses to life experiences and events. Learning this has been a game changer for Miranda. She helps guide those in her care to learn and apply this way of thinking to their own lives.

Feel the music

An experienced musician, Miranda Peyton first found her way to the mental health field as a music therapist. Later, she returned to graduate school to pursue her masters in social work. Today, Miranda enjoys incorporating music and the arts in therapy.

Both music and art can help individuals to express their emotions. Words can be difficult. Using the arts opens a door for new ways to communicate and cope with mental health experiences. Music is used in a variety of ways including active music making, learning skills, listening to music, and lyric reading. It can also help promote relaxation.

Move your body

While music engages the sense of hearing, another way to engage your mind and healing is through physical activity. Miranda believes in the importance of loving and accepting yourself and where you are at in your journey. She encourages self-love with everyone she works with, but also recognizes the physical benefits of moving your body.

Fitness is a personal passion of Miranda’s and she has seen the benefits of being active in her own life. Tapping into physical activity as a way of healing or coping through difficult situations can be a great tool.

Genuine care and endless opportunities

Miranda has been fortunate to work with individuals from all walks of life through her career. She spent several years providing mental healthcare and support to youth and educators in local schools. Additionally, she has worked with adults who have found themselves in a difficult place in life.

No matter what, Miranda sees each person as having value. She will not give up on you and will help you to believe in your own potential. Regardless of where someone is at, Miranda believes in embracing the journey.
