Ben Jaggers, ARNP, PMHNP-BC is devoted to helping others and watching them grow in their health transitions. It brings him great joy to witness others overcome adversity and he is grateful to be a part of that journey. This is evident in the care he provides and in his volunteer work. Ben previously served as the Vice Chair for Action for Africa: Love Beyond Borders.
Experienced and Compassionate
When you meet Ben, you’ll find him to be warm, compassionate, open and empathic. He’s highly knowledgeable in several areas of mental health from some of the most severe diagnoses requiring hospitalization to more mild disorders — although still impacting daily life.
As a former inpatient mental health provider, Ben has supported people through health transitions resulting in several hospitalizations per year to regaining their independence, healthy relationships and employment. He’s walked alongside individuals facing severe, life threatening alcoholism and helped them through recovery. But, his most rewarding moment with each person he cares for is the moment they fully recognize how to love and care for themselves. Seeing someone reach this state of balance where they become more healthy than unhealthy is truly amazing. Ben sees this potential in each person he meets.
Ben Understands Because He’s Been There Too
Family transmission of trauma and patterns in trauma are as fascinating as they are devastating. Depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, suicide, substance abuse, divorce and grief due to unexpected loss of siblings and children are just some of the mental health disorders and experiences Ben and his family have endured over the years. They have since recovered from these traumatic experiences, thanks in large part to mental health medication and therapy.
As painful as his family’s life experiences have been, each traumatic experience provided opportunities to grow and develop virtue. With sharing our experiences and supporting one another Ben’s family learned how to move forward with their grief and recover. Together they’ve learned to apologize for transgressions born of trauma, forgive one another, strengthen relationships, and discovered how to love themselves.
Ready to Serve You
Unsurprisingly, Ben joined the mental health field as it provides the opportunity to help others. The genuine empathy that developed out of his life experiences is cornerstone to how he cares for others. Ben primarily works with teens and adults, but is open to also working with older children.
Ready to Rock!
When he is not in the office, Ben plays lead guitar in a local cover band. They do David Bowie tribute shows and also play a variety of decade based music from 60s to present day. He also enjoys spending time with his family, including his five children in the outdoors hiking and camping.
If you are ready to focus on a plan that is right for your current circumstances and future goals, please reach out to schedule an appointment with Ben.
