No One is Immune to Mental Health Challenges

Melanie is on a personal mission to break the stigma around mental health. No one is immune to mental health concerns and no one should feel like they need to be. Everyone has the potential to cultivate change and growth in their life.

Often times, those that have devoted their careers to supporting and protecting others feel like they have no place to turn for help themselves. Melanie has a passion for working with first responders, 911 dispatchers, nurses, and veterans.

A Little Humor Goes a Long Way

When you meet Melanie, you will find her to be a very warm empathetic person. She loves to utilize humor (where appropriate) in her counseling sessions. Most importantly, she wants to create a space for her clients to be their authentic selves while also working towards change in their life. Each person already has tools within themselves to elicit change and growth! Her role is to help you tap into those strengths!

Break Out of Your Shell

As mentioned earlier, it can be scary to go to therapy, let alone be vulnerable. However, if you take those first steps, you may realize how strong you truly are. Melanie has been witness to many individuals breaking out of their shells and becoming confident in their abilities to change their lives. You can turn hopelessness into joyfulness and self-doubt into positive self-esteem and self-confidence through therapy.

Let’s Hear it for the Nerds!

Melanie describes herself and her husband as “huge nerds.” They enjoy attending Comic-Con whenever possible. She loves to make people laugh — often with the punniest of puns. If you would like help navigating your mental health with a side of laughter, please reach out to request an appointment with Melanie at our Davenport Clinic.

Get Direction for Your Life!

Find inspiration on your path to mental wellness. Please note, these articles are not a replacement for personal medical advice.

Mental health medications and a holistic lifestyle can't just only coexist, the combination can be a game changer for mental health.

You may be faced with the question, “Does my child need medication for their mental health?” If your child is worried, sad, angry, or overwhelmed, encourage them to talk to a trusted adult. If they are struggling with things like regulating emotions, controlling anger, or focusing it may be a good idea to discuss it with a medical professional.

While we cannot change the past, it IS possible to stop the cycle of intergenerational trauma and prevent it in future generations. Community support and resources play an important role.
