A Helpful Ear

Mental health impacts every part of our daily lives. Alex provides a helpful, safe, and comforting ear for those who have experienced trauma or other adversities. As your child’s mental health counselor, she will work with them (and you) to help everyone learn positive ways to manage their mental health.

Your Child will Guide the Way

Your child or teen is uniquely themselves. What works for one person may not necessarily help the next. Simply stated, everyone has different mental health therapy needs. Alex works to create a space that fits each individual in her care. She lets your child (within reason) be the leader in their treatment while focusing on their unique needs and therapy goals.

It is most exciting and rewarding to get to see a “light bulb” moment during therapy. These are the moments where your child is able to recognize their own growth. That said, many of these moments may not seem big. But, each step along the way is another step towards achieving their goals. As the saying goes “Rome was not built in a day.” But, if you stick with it, long-term growth is absolutely possible.

An Explorer by Nature

Outside of the office, Alex enjoys traveling to new places and exploring. She has actually been to nearly all 50 states and even a few foreign countries! She also loves to get out on the water — swimming, boating, you name it! If you are ready for your child or teen to explore their mental health and unleash their potential, please reach out to schedule an appointment with Alex at our Davenport Clinic.

Find inspiration on your path to mental wellness. Please note, these articles are not a replacement for personal medical advice.

Mental health medications and a holistic lifestyle can't just only coexist, the combination can be a game changer for mental health.

You may be faced with the question, “Does my child need medication for their mental health?” If your child is worried, sad, angry, or overwhelmed, encourage them to talk to a trusted adult. If they are struggling with things like regulating emotions, controlling anger, or focusing it may be a good idea to discuss it with a medical professional.

While we cannot change the past, it IS possible to stop the cycle of intergenerational trauma and prevent it in future generations. Community support and resources play an important role.
