Reid Mettert, MA, LMHC

(He/Him/His)

Senior Clinician

"It takes a lot of strength to come to therapy for the first time, and I would be honored to join you as you seek positive change in your life."

There is a saying, “nothing changes if nothing changes.” Change is scary, life is scary, and talking to someone when you’re not feeling the best can be scary. Reid commends everyone who seeks help and is ready to make a change in their life for the better because that is scary.

Get to Know Reid

Selecting a mental health provider is a very personal decision. Learn a bit more about Reid and what to expect when you or a loved one receive care with us at Covenant Family Solutions. Our mission is to unleash your potential.

Reid wants you to know that he is not here to fix you, because therapy is not about him telling you what you need to do. Rather, therapy is about empowering you to seek that for yourself in a safe place to explore the areas in your life that YOU believe need to change.

You’ll find Reid to be a very easy going and authentic person. He utilizes humor as a way of breaking the tension and allowing people to be at ease. He enjoys working with people of all ages and backgrounds, but especially enjoy working with athletes and young adults who are trying to figure everything out in this thing called life. A Dubuque native, Reid has been an athlete himself since he began snowboarding at age six. He even made it to the semi-pro level! In college, he ran track at Clarke University.

It takes a lot of strength to come to therapy for the first time. Change is scary, but therapy shouldn’t be. Please reach out to schedule a visit with Reid to support your brain health.

Get Direction for Your Life!

Find inspiration on your path to mental wellness. Please note, these articles are not a replacement for personal medical advice.

Mental health medications and a holistic lifestyle can't just only coexist, the combination can be a game changer for mental health.

You may be faced with the question, “Does my child need medication for their mental health?” If your child is worried, sad, angry, or overwhelmed, encourage them to talk to a trusted adult. If they are struggling with things like regulating emotions, controlling anger, or focusing it may be a good idea to discuss it with a medical professional.

While we cannot change the past, it IS possible to stop the cycle of intergenerational trauma and prevent it in future generations. Community support and resources play an important role.
