Get to Know C.J.

Selecting a mental health provider is a very personal decision. Learn a bit more about C.J. and what to expect when you or a loved one receive care with us at Covenant Family Solutions. Our mission is to unleash your potential.

C.J. Baloy has coped with depression and anxiety throughout her life. As an immigrant to the United States, she experienced acculturative stress and assimilation in addition to integrating into a blended family. Initially, she did not really know or understand what she was feeling. However, over time, she learned how to advocate for her own mental health despite cultural and generational differences with those around her.

What is Your Story?

C.J. has always enjoyed hearing people’s stories and making connections. She values uniqueness in everyone. Therapy is a tool for you to use as a way to explore the depths of who you are are. Through it, you can begin to build your own narrative to accept yourself as who you are. At the same time, it can help you evolve into the vision of who you hope to be.

As your therapist, C.J. believes that you already have what you are looking for before you even walk through the door. Therapy is a tool to help you excavate and nurture what you already possess.

Come as You Are

“Come as you are” is a motto that C.J. applies to her therapy practice. She wants you to come as you truly are and she promises to meet you wherever you are at in your journey. For her part, C.J. promises to be as genuine and authentic as possible while providing a non-judgmental space for you to heal.

C.J. is a laid-back person and therapist. She is not afraid to walk with you as you tackle the tough situations you are facing and work towards growth. Her purpose is to be a support for you along this path.

Intense or Humorous Therapy?

How about both? Tackling issues in therapy is hard work! In therapy, C.J. likes to change up the intensity in sessions by incorporating both challenges and humor to help you you work through your struggles. She will help you deconstruct the harmful narratives you have built for yourself and and build ones that are more evolved and accepting of who you are.

Collaboration is key!

C.J. is not here you to tell you what to do or how to think. You are the expert and understand yourself and your story better than anyone. As your therapist, C.J. will collaborate with you to work towards your goals. You are the author of your life and stories.

Trust is Essential

There is something about being allowed into people’s lives in a way that they trust you deeply and witnessing their growth that is incredibly rewarding. C.J. would be honored to be entrusted with your mental health journey. She will celebrate with you as you rewrite your story while overcoming challenges in your way.

Life is Full of Adventure

C.J. loves to embrace every part that life has to offer. In her spare time, you can find her cooking (especially family recipes), gardening, skating, reading, going to comedy shows and concerts, travelling, spending time outside, petting someone’s dog, and (assuming there is any time left over) trying new experiences.

Mental health medications and a holistic lifestyle can't just only coexist, the combination can be a game changer for mental health.

You may be faced with the question, “Does my child need medication for their mental health?” If your child is worried, sad, angry, or overwhelmed, encourage them to talk to a trusted adult. If they are struggling with things like regulating emotions, controlling anger, or focusing it may be a good idea to discuss it with a medical professional.

While we cannot change the past, it IS possible to stop the cycle of intergenerational trauma and prevent it in future generations. Community support and resources play an important role.
