Stephanie creates a safe and comfortable environment for every individual that comes into her office. When she works with children, she makes sure to bring a playful energy to session. Stephanie Eslick, MA, LMFT, RPT is a Registered Play Therapist and was named the Iowa Play Therapist of the Year in 2020. She sees individuals of all ages, as well as couples and families. She is also certified in AutPlay and practices Adlerian play therapy, as she loves working with kids.

Creating a comfortable space

Stephanie creates a safe and comfortable environment for every individual that comes into her office. When she works with children, she makes sure to bring a playful energy to session. As a result, the environment is not as scary and the kids feel more comfortable. Feeling safe is important, especially when talking about difficult things.

Creating this playful and happy environment allows people and families to grow in ways that they have struggled to before. Each person deserves to feel happy and have support. Giving people that support is what motivates Stephanie to go to work each day.

Strengths and solutions

Stephanie uses solution-focused and attachment-based methods. She helps individuals and families find and use their existing strengths to achieve goals. In addition, she takes a look at the different support systems or relationships that they have. She then helps identify ways that those can be a support for the individual.

Collaborative treatment

People might spend less time in therapy than they do in other environments. For this reason, Stephanie collaborates with other people in their life. Parents, providers, teachers, and family support workers are a few examples of types of people. This approach allows for a more complete treatment. She wants everyone to feel support from all influential figures in their life.

In addition, she works with those seeking therapy. She wants to know what they want to get out of therapy. This kind of communication is valuable and she wants them to know they have a say in their own therapeutic journey.
