Cedar Rapids, Iowa — Covenant Family Solutions (CFS), a leading mental health provider based in Eastern Iowa, announced today that they are partnering with the Make It OK campaign, led by the Iowa Healthiest State Initiative, to help reduce the stigma of mental illness in Iowa.
CFS will provide mental health therapy services through StrengthenU, a virtual care platform launched by CFS in January, at a special discount to Iowans through the partnership with Make It OK. Additionally, CFS will donate a percentage of fees received from services to the Make It OK campaign to be used toward promoting awareness of and reducing the stigma surrounding mental illness in Iowa.
“We are excited about this new partnership with Covenant Family Solutions,” said Iowa Healthiest State Initiative Executive Director Jami Haberl. “The ability to support the extension of mental health services through the StrengthenU platform to our rural areas who may otherwise have difficulty accessing mental health care has the potential to be lifesaving.”
CFS was motivated by the recent increase in mental health issues over the past year to play an even more active role in destigmatizing mental health and removing barriers to care before it is too late. CFS CEO Dr. Jacob Christenson, PhD, LMFT states, “Each time I read the news, there is yet another tragic story that could have been potentially avoided through access to mental healthcare. At CFS we are committed to doing what it takes to tear down the stigma around mental health so that people feel empowered to access support when they need it most.”
Iowans can learn more about or sign up for StrengthenU at StrengthenU.com. To access the discount through Make It OK, residents may enter “makeitok” in the coupon section when signing up for services. StrengthenU is available via the website, Apple App Store, and through Google Play.
